Margarita Finance, a Solana-based platform specializing in structured investment products, has secured $1 million in pre-seed funding. The round was backed by several early-stage venture firms including Tomahawk VC, Outrun Ventures, prominent family offices, including Swiss-based N & V Capital, and market maker G-20 Group. Margarita Finance is also funded by a grant from the Solana Foundation.
The structured products market, valued at $7 trillion, has long been plagued by opaque fees, extended settlement times, and high entry barriers due to outdated TradFi infrastructure. Solana’s high-speed blockchain, smart contracts, and oracles allow Margarita Finance to disrupt the existing value chain, giving users the option to tailor investment products at lower costs, unmatched speeds, and through a simple, intuitive user experience. Its flagship product, “Yield Boosters”, enables investors to earn double-digit yields on their BTC, ETH, and SOL with flexible lock-up periods from one day to three months with a few clicks. Investors will benefit from both real-time pricing and immediate execution.
“Our goal is to onboard the other 99% of global potential investors into onchain structured products,” said Benedikt Schuppli, co-founder of Margarita Finance. “DeFi, while innovative, remains too technically complex for most users. Of the one billion global potential investors, only 10 million currently use DeFi. Margarita Finance overcomes this hurdle by combining TradFi’s legal enforceability with the innovation of blockchain to unlock opportunities for everyone.”
Cedric Waldburger, General Partner of Tomahawk VC, remarked: “Margarita Finance is revolutionizing the nascent but high-potential onchain structured product market. By prioritizing user experience and real user needs such as generating yield on Bitcoin, the platform is addressing one of the crypto industry’s biggest challenges: onboarding new users and scaling the market effectively.”
Launched in 2024 amid favorable market tailwinds for Solana DeFi, Margarita Finance is the latest innovation from the builders of onchain debt capital markets platform Obligate. Drawing inspiration from the tailored nature of the perfect cocktail blend, Margarita Finance empowers users to make customizable investments closely aligned with their yield goals and risk appetite.
