Avara the parent company behind Aave Labs and Lens, launches Family Wallet, the secure, beautifully designed, and feature-rich non-custodial crypto wallet with built-in messaging. Available for free on the iOS App Store, Family is for everyone from beginners to seasoned crypto users who want to transact or simply explore web3 – from decentralized finance to collectibles to popular games and more. A non-custodial Ethereum wallet, users remain in full control of their assets, private keys, and sensitive data.
With Pocket, Family’s dedicated self-custody account service, users can set up a wallet using their email or phone and a passkey or password. Alternatively, users can use Family without Pocket by backing up their secret recovery phrase manually or with iCloud.
Family supports rich-media collectibles, enabling users to view art, play videos, and listen to music – all within the app. Users can also access decentralized apps by using Family’s in-app browser to find and connect to web3-enabled sites, with built-in tab management, bookmarks, and more. Or they can simply pair their wallet using a scanner to access dApps on desktop. In addition to the features users might expect, such as swaps and buying crypto powered by Stripe, Family also includes the Refuel Wallet function, which enables quick bridging of up to 50 USD in ETH from Ethereum mainnet to any L2s supported by Family. Users will also enjoy connecting with others through Family’s messaging function, which lets users chat with friends. Messaging supports images, videos, audio, reactions, and sending crypto and collectibles, opening up new possibilities for connection and interaction.
“Our goal is to offer the best wallet to transact with and increase access to the world of web3, where the next big wave of compelling web applications will live,” said Avara Founder and CEO Stani Kulechov. “Family unlocks a great experience and secure gateway to a host of new user benefits that come only with decentralized applications on blockchain.”
Family goes beyond simple transactions such as sending, receiving, and swapping crypto assets. Optimized for speed and performance, Family also provides advanced features for DeFi power users such as transaction simulations, protection via Flashbots, approval management, gas refueling, comprehensive backup management, and more. Users can swap thousands of types of tokens, and transact on various Ethereum Layer 2 networks, including Optimism, Base, Arbitrum, and zkSync, with additional networks to come. Sending and receiving tokens and collectibles is easy with just a few taps, including the ability to do so within Family’s in-app messaging.
Users can easily track the status of their transactions with real-time live updates, detailed information, notifications, and seamless animations between states. Users can continue using wallets they own, create new ones, or stay up-to-date with an unlimited number of wallets in view-only mode, receiving real-time notifications. Human-readable activity logs provide users to see and easily read all of their wallet history in rich detail. Users have powerful organizational tools to rearrange tokens and collectibles, star their favorite assets, or move unwanted items to the trash.
“Family is designed for everyone, with a focus on thoughtful, design-first details. Its simple interface and clear flows make it delightful and fun to use. Whether you’re new to crypto or an advanced user, Family offers a seamless experience that isn’t just understandable, but enjoyable,” said Benji Taylor, Avara Chief Product Officer and founder of Family.
Placing special emphasis on security, the Family wallet has been thoroughly audited before release by top security firm Zellic. To protect assets, if in manual mode, user keys are encrypted and stored locally on the user’s device. If using Pocket as a backup method, only the encrypted wallet is stored on the Pocket server, meaning only the user has access to their credentials and their wallet at all times. In addition, Family uses two-step authentication via biometrics for sensitive actions, such as signing transactions. Moreover, Family helps users understand their transactions before they are submitted with warnings and simulations about potentially harmful actions.
