SONM (Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining), a platform for decentralized computation, signed a partnership agreement with Faceter, provider of software for facial recognition and video stream analysis from security surveillance systems.
Companies will do research and development to run Faceter’s complicated deep-learning algorithms on SONM platform. R&D will eventually transform into a market-ready product, which will run on fog computing (decentralized computing) infrastructure. Faceter expects fog computing will help to reduce IT-infrastructure costs significantly, as the largest portion of expenses is spent on running resource-consuming algorithms.
SONM successfully raised over $42 million during ICO in June 2017. Active development stage has been on since then, and the company is ready to present its first major release in the upcoming months. It will contain the minimum viable product (MVP) and will be launched on the Ethereum test network. SONM platform can be used in scientific calculations, video rendering tasks, big data processing, etc.
