AT&T becomes the first mobile carrier to accept payments in cryptocurrency.
The US telecom giant, AT&T, has become the first mobile carrier to accept cryptocurrency for phone bills. The company will use BitPay as crypto payment platform, according to company’s press-release.
BitPay is a platform that handles crypto-fiat payments and used by over 20,000 businesses.
One possible reason for AT&T to go crypto is a growing millennials base who more often now utilise crypto payments.
Kevin McDorman, vice president, AT&T Communications Finance Business Operations, said in a statement: “We’re always looking for ways to improve and expand our services. We have customers who use cryptocurrency, and we are happy we can offer them a way to pay their bills with the method they prefer.”
